Prayer & Fasting

January 13th through January 19th

We begin this new season seeking spiritual breakthrough in our life, in our church, and in our communities. We do this through 7 days of prayer & fasting as we intentionally seek God’s will so that we can recognize the power of God doing something new in our lives.

WHAT IS FASTING?

Biblical fasting is refraining from food for a spiritual purpose.

WHY DO WE FAST?

Fasting is part of growing in a deeper relationship with God.

In Matthew 6, Jesus talks collectively about the spiritual practices of giving, praying and fasting (and forgiving!).  These private practices result in public rewards by our Heavenly Father!

HOW TO PRAY?

Prayer is communicating with God. Create a routine in your prayer life by having a certain time, a certain place, & certain plan to commune with Jesus.

How long does Prayer & Fasting last?

We are taking seven days as a church to intentionally seek God in prayer and believe for Him to move in powerful ways.

What is a good bible reading plan?

There are numerous plans available! We recommend using the One Year Bible Plan.

What types of fasting are there?

Partial Fast

  • In this type of fast, you will abstain from eating any food during either the morning or the evening. This can be for a specific time frame, such as from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM or from sunrise to sunset.

Daniel Fast

  • This type of fast involves eliminating specific foods from your diet. An example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, where you avoid meat, sweets, and bread, and consume water or juice for liquids, along with fruits and vegetables for food.

Item Fast

  • This type of fast is an excellent choice if you’re new to food fasting, have health concerns that prevent you from fasting food, or if you want to refocus areas of your life that may feel out of balance. For instance, you might decide to give up social media or television for the duration of the fast and then gradually reintroduce these activities in a more balanced way after the fast ends.

Complete Fast

  • In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.
