Our History & Beliefs

On Palm Sunday, 1990, Church In The Son was born. Our very first service was held in the Orlando Museum of Art. To our amazement, over 250 people attended that first Sunday. Our Pastor, Alex Clattenburg, longed to see a church arise that would allow the Holy Spirit to fully work in the lives of people. There was a deep desire to freely experience worship, and go beyond traditional formality. From the very beginning, we knew that with prayer and obedience, God’s blessing would be with us. Without the backing from any organization, we stepped out in faith believing for God to do something great and He did!

Year after year, God has been faithful. We have witnessed many miracles. From the gift of land for our present campus to the healing of the sick and broken, God has shown Himself to us as truly awesome. Our God Encounters have helped bring spiritual freedom to thousands of people over the course of our history. From our inception, Church in the Son has understood

that people throughout our city are far from God, and need to experience the love of Jesus. Our church family continues to bring their lost friends to weekly services, and week after week we see souls being saved and giving their lives to Jesus. With two weekend services and our mid-week service, we are seeing people from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds experience the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said that if He was lifted up, He would draw all people unto Himself, and He has without a doubt kept His word. We are so grateful to God for what he has done in and through our church family.

The chapters of our story are still being written, and we look forward to making many more disciples who will change the world, and seeing many more lives healed and whole through the power of Christ. We will continue to live out our core values: Love God, Love People, and Affect The World. We can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Our vision is: Loving God by experiencing a daily personal relationship with the Lord through living a life of obedience. Loving People by being connected in meaningful relationships and serving together in ministry. Affecting the World by giving to, praying for, and participating in community projects and world missions.

We live life Together. Small Groups are at the core of who we are. In a large church it is easy to get lost in the crowd–that’s why we meet in homes throughout the city. We live life Connected. Whether the weekly service, a small group, a class, or serving in ministry, everyone can get connected. Whatever your age, occupation, or nationality, there’s a place for you at Church In The Son.
